Some more views of the coyote from this set: canis-ferox.deviantart.com/art…

Aaah this was a really difficult one but really satisfying once I got it done! Ironically this, the most complicated thing, was also the first thing I made out of that set. Apparently that's how I roll. Sooo it has several issues, but I learned a lot! Here's what the original drawing/pattern looks like before printing, it's a western-type coyote: sta.sh/01qmq1jlfkp9

Turning those tiny legs and tail inside out after the sewing was  m u r d e r  haha. I despaired at least a couple of times. My goal was realistic proportions rather than the almost chibi style that seems to be common in plushes, but next time I know to exaggerate the width of the limbs and such more in the pattern. I didn't predict how the shape would change from pattern to finished product. As you might can tell near the seams, I left the edge outline visible completely overestimating how easy it would be to sew exactly along it :'D Since it isn't too dark I don't think it detracts too much here, but I quickly worked out a system for matching up the printed edges of different pattern parts without doing that on the next one I did. So it won't be an issue in future works. A wire armature was added as an afterthought when I saw the limbs all wanted to go at odd angles when left to their own devices haha. It turned out being a great addition because now he can hold different poses more easily :> Another goal of next time is to attach the ears to the head in a nicer looking way : D I'm working on a couple different patterns now but I haven't decided to try making another coyote or make a wolf for this one :U I'm leaning towards wolf.

This tutorial from :iconisismasshiro: (whose plush work is excellent) helped me out a ton~ isismasshiro.deviantart.com/ar… It's one of the few tutorials I've seen that work with more realistic shapes rather than chibi/cartoony exaggerated type ones and I'm very glad I found it :D
