Sketchdump 8-11-16

Been a while since I put together a good sketchdump! A lot of this is from my last semester at college. Have I mentioned how much I love gradients? Because I do, they look like the sky.

1. Wild assortment of random sketches, including a few different stages of one sketch, a lighting test, and a fancy shaded piece. I have realized I kind of love drawing headshots. The blurry background was referenced off of a photo that was a promo shot for some movie but I honestly don't remember what  D:

2. Some scenario involving Rook, a gun, and Roy(who belongs to Pagerda ~). I borrowed Roy to give Rook someone to shove : D Roy is actually a fantastic marksman but Rook apparently thinks he knows something better than him. Maybe what to shoot at.
Also obligatory didn't-use-references and barely-know-how-to-draw-guns mention.

3. Hi Raoul Duke Rook. Some of the clothing from that Halloween picture makes a reappearance! I like to imagine he bought all that as a Fear and Loathing themed costume but it was similar enough to stuff he already had that some of it just sort of snuck into his regular wardrobe.

4. Some bar scene type thing, I really like the pose. I was going to draw another part of the chair for his left foot to rest on and forgot though haha.

5. I don't even know when I drew some of these :0 I hope no one minds blood? I don't think it's enough for a mature filter but idk. That one's sort of representative of when his leg got all messed up  ( representative because only his anthro form is technically "canon"). The one under it is representative of some point between that event and his present-day self. I was going to do an age meme with him a while back, but I never finished it and now I just keep finding bits and pieces of it :U maybe someday I'll get it done.

6. Apparently it was time for the annual attempt to draw Rook as a human. Still didn't nail the look right. I don’t yet have good enough command of human facial features to convey the same thing I can in his wolf version. Oddly enough though this was actually the result of a Futurama marathon.

7. Some practice anatomy sketches using random poses from the app ArtPose as reference. It's a really neat app. I can't remember which were custom poses and which were already in the app (except for the crazy fighting pose, I'm 95% sure that one's mine). The two on the left are Rook when he was younger, and the two on the right are his older/current version, if it wasn't obvious. He's still wiry-muscled but a little more out of shape nowadays x'D

8. Another scattering of smaller sketches. They range from tired and/or sad to comically annoyed to tear-someone's-face-off. xD
The last one is recent (and not actually all that small in its original size) but the other two are old. The chibi-type drawing is from around the same time as this one: fav.me/d8ys91p

I briefly considered putting his half siblings on here too, but I decided to give them their own posting. That’ll be coming up in the hopefully near future! I still want to draw in Rook's parents and maybe his siblings' mother (they have the same father) but it seems like it takes me forever to finish any digital drawings these days, so I might be better off posting it and just updating it when I add them in?

Btw I sure am glad y'all like seeing this jerk, because he definitely keeps popping up in my art pretty reliably  xD
