Edit: The dark mark right behind the lighter one on his muzzle (right after where the whisker dots are) is a marking, not a line or a shadow. It's a small fur marking the same color as his eartips. Sorry about that; apparently I didn't show that well. There are no shadows on this reference.

Alias /Nickname: Aureus :I

Gender: Male

Species: Invented species. Inspired by slender shorter furred canids with large ears (i.e. Iranian wolf, jackal, red wolf, and some borzoi/sighthound influence in facial proportions)

What Was Stolen: His greatest discovery. It would have been a major technological breakthrough for the time, but his constructed hand is the only example of its possibilities.

Abilities:

Where he is coming from, it is still acceptable for upstanding members of society to settle their differences by violently swinging sharp objects at each other. As a former prominent member of society, especially one who has a tendency to get rather excited about his views and ideas irrespective of whose they clash with, he has been in quite a few of these and has often come out the victor. However he has not actually been in one where the terms were “to the death.” Most often it was to first blood. He also enjoys the sport of it, and has practiced quite a bit in the past. He can actually get a bit overconfident with it though.
For this his weapon is a smallsword.

Strengths:
Actually pretty energetic usually (though that tends to manifest itself in nervous fidgeting and that sort of thing under everyday circumstances)
Agility/speed (though not things like running long distances)
Fencing. He has above average fencing ability

Weaknesses:
Pronounced lack of physical strength. He has a very thin build, not muscular at all. Not helped by the fact that when working on something particularly interesting he has always had a tendency to forget about mundane things like food and sleep.
Left ankle is weak. He injured it years ago in a duel (though from dodging out of the way, not actually from his opponent’s blade). The brace supports it for normal use, but it’s highly imperfect and may lock up or otherwise fail to function properly at random, making him more likely to trip. It also wouldn’t hold against a blow to this area so he would try to keep it away from combatants. It may be sore after a lot of strenuous use, so it also acts as a limitation on agility.
Somewhat bad back due to many hours spent at a desk working on small intricate things.
Due to a combination of his light, thin build and the messed up ankle, he is pretty easy to knock over or shove around.

Height/Weight: 5'8, probably approximately 130lb

Personality: Intelligent and quick-thinking. At first he can seem quiet as he tends to keep to himself initially. Despite this he actually isn’t antisocial in the least; he’s just become nervous around people, unsure of himself. He actually really enjoys company, especially when it includes friendly intelligent conversation. If he’s encouraged by some kind of positive reaction he’ll probably loosen up a bit. He believes rather strongly in propriety and manners, but if he’s on the subject of something he’s really intrigued by, he can get pretty enthusiastic about it and forget about that sort of thing, sometimes being a bit more overt than could be considered tactful. Also he’s rather competitive. He’s kind of a nervous person to begin with though, so he has to either be pretty comfortable in the situation or feel strongly about something for that sort of thing to come out.

Likes:
Tea. Herbal tea in particular. Some of his favorites are chamomile and mint.
Arthropods. He considers them much like machines in many ways, and is fascinated by their workings. He would like to someday build machines that are like insects but of course there’s a certain breakthrough that must be reclaimed before that can happen.

Other:
The mechanical left hand is more or less functional as a normal hand. There are some small differences which may constitute a slight advantage, but I didn’t feel it strong enough to put under Abilities (let me know if it needs to be). It is insensitive to pain, and as it is made from metal obviously more durable than a normal hand. It’s also slightly stronger than the other.

He is from the past (a time period similar to our late 1800s or so). It’s possible that your character may have heard of him if they’re from a modern time and up on their history. They’ll likely know him as that guy who was a great inventor at one point but went crazy after a mysterious failed discovery. He’s remembered more for his oddness than any achievements. No one ever figured out what he was rambling about when he talked about it as he didn’t seem to know himself.

Okay! Finally that's done. Sorry it's a bit long. Unsure about the clothing colors but I messed around with so many different options for so long that I think I may not find something I am sure about.
Wanted to go with something less obvious than Argentis for the last name but of course I couldn't think of anything. Gold Silver he is then. o/ I hope it all makes sense and everything~ I've been staring at this for quite a while so I may be overlooking some error or something I need to clarify.

I hope the writing on the reference is okay. I did it for a reason (a journal was part of what was stolen from him and he keeps extensive notes on things, so I wanted it to sort of resemble that) but hopefully it's not distracting or anything. I know I accidentally drew the mechanical hand on the right on one drawing. That is incorrect. That pose was so hard to draw that somehow I got that mixed up while focusing on trying to get anatomy right and everything. D=


Also, feel free to simplify his clothes/design to whatever befits your style.

I don't like the small faded out headshot nearest the fencing sketch but I needed a space filler. It may be replaced later if that's all right.
